Flying to Santander Parayas airport (Airport Code SDR) is one of the more convenient options available. Santander airport is approximately 35 miles (55 kilometers) from Garabandal. The airport is solely domestic (excepting certain charter operations) with good connections to Madrid and Barcelona (about 4 flights to each daily).

Service to Santander from Madrid and Barcelona is provided by Aviaco, the national Domestic carrier, and Air Nostrum, the domestic wing of Iberia. The flight takes about 45 minutes.

Rent a car

Most major car rental agencies operate out of Santander including Hertz, Avis, and Europcar (affiliated with Alamo in the US). Cars may be rented with a valid License from your native country and a credit card. Whenever possible it is a good idea to reserve your car ahead of time and confirm the availability of the car you are requesting. This is particularly true if you wish to rent a vehicle with an automatic transmission, a luxury car or a van.

The trip from Santander to Garabandal should take under one hour. While the roads in Spain have been much improved in recent years it should be noted that much of this drive is on very narrow, winding mountain roads that demand caution and driving skill.
